Five Winter Trends for 2016

Weddings get all the best trends if you ask us. Naked wedding cakes look spectacular and taste delicious, vintage brides always look a million dollars and photobooths result in some of the most memorable and fun pictures from your wedding day.

With that in mind, we’ve been keen to collate the big trends for winter 2016 – here’s what you can expect to see more of over the coming months.

Long sleeves

You probably haven’t even considered a long-sleeved wedding dress, but they’re going to be big news this winter. Not only will they keep you warm on a chillier day, but long sleeves are elegant and, we think, even a little bit regal.

Berry lipstick, berry shoes and berry linen – this season is all about this sumptuous shade. When it comes to makeup, keep the rest of your look simple and neutral and then let your lip colour make a statement.

Glitz and glamour

Adding a little bit of sparkle to proceedings needn’t be tacky – use shimmery papers for your invites or even add metallic napkins and place settings to a black tablecloth for your reception. If you’re opting for a 1920s theme then this works particularly well and we promise you it won’t be ‘too much’.

Coffee favours are all the rage at the moment – if you and your partner are coffee connoisseurs and you know that your friends share your passion for the perfect cup, then why not offer your favourite blend as a favour? Not only is it a unique alternative to the normal sugared almonds, but it’ll be much appreciated when your guests are feeling that little bit delicate and in need of a boost the next morning.

Lights, lights and more lights! Wintery nights deserve good lighting and we say the more twinkling the better. String fairy lights around your venue – put them in decorative branches, along the edges of your reception room and wrap them around seats to give a magical glow to your celebration.

There you have it – five of our favourites for this winter. Which will you be incorporating into your big day?

If you’re yet to find a venue for your winter wedding then Northbrook Park is the ideal place for you. Offering a magnificent house and grounds, it’s a fairytale setting for your big day. To arrange a tour, get in touch.
