Crabbing & rock pooling in Fowey

A family holiday to the seaside is never quite complete without whiling away an afternoon discovering a local rock pool and its friendly inhabitants or crabbing on the beautiful shores of Fowey, Cornwall.

A couple of our recommended spots for crabbing are Albert Quay Steps pontoon, the Slipway on Passage Street, the riverfront at Caffa Mill or the Quay in Polruan. Please remember to return the crabs once you have finished, they’re very important for our coast!

We’ve got crabbing lines, nets, buckets and even fold-up seats to lend you. On request, we’ll also pack you a luxury picnic of home-made goodies to take in a backpack. Simply ask reception for more information and we’ll sort the rest.

Rock Pools

The rock pools at Readymoney Cove are well worth a visit and one of our favourites. This popular sandy cove, overlooked by St Catherine's Castle, is an easy walk from the centre of Fowey and has pleasant views across the harbour towards Polruan.
