Best Beaches of Fowey, Cornwall

Our bustling little port of Fowey is home to some of the most dreamy beaches in the country - with clear waters, soft and sandy shores and glorious views as far as the eyes can see. Here are some of our top picks closest to the Fowey town centre…

Polruan Quay Beach

In the picturesque village of Polruan you’ll find two rather beautiful beaches, one on the Quay and another tucked away on the opposite side, named Back Beach.

Polruan Quay beach is a favourite of ours as it sits right at the centre of activities with its close proximity to the village. The beach is mostly sand towards the high tide mark but becomes more of a shingle beach as you head further down. Gently shelving into a fairly sheltered section of the River Fowey, it is a great spot for taking a dip. However, please note there are no lifeguards and care must be taken to avoid boats as this is a very active stretch of water.

Lantic Bay

The ultimate hidden gem here in Cornwall is Lantic Bay. Located on the quiet and extremely sensational stretch of coast between Fowey and Polperro, this isn’t the easiest of beaches to find, but when you do, you’ll be rewarded by a vista of near white sand and sparkling turquoise water all set in a bay back by high, verdant cliffs. Taking a dip in the sea as beautiful as Lantic Bay is an absolute balm for the soul, and a must-do while joining us.

Polridmouth Cove

In between Gribbin Head and Fowey, you’ll find the glorious twin cove of Polridmouth. Enjoy a gentle stroll along the woodland track that takes you down to the beach, which is usually very quiet as it is tucked away and a little more difficult to get to. But if you’re up for a seaside adventure that finishes on one of the most fantastic hidden beaches, this one is for you.
