Described as one of the most beautiful walking routes in Britain, The Southwest Coastal Walk is one to be discovered while you’re staying with us.
This epic 36 mile trail actually starts in Somerset, but it passes through much of our local coastline, all the way to Poole which is about a 45 minute drive from us.
If you fancy enjoying a mini trek while you’re staying at ours, we recommend enjoying the trail from Christchurch to Sandbanks. Starting at the centre of Christchurch town, the path takes you along the river stour, along our local harbours, woodlands, cliff tops and of course beaches all the way to Sandbanks. Along the way you’ll get to discover many of our favourite local towns, idyllic nature spots and independent stores, cafes and so much more. Along the way you must stop and refuel at a local deli, or coffee spot - there’s plenty to choose from!
Once you’ve finished the trail, you may feel a little tired, so there’s plenty of ways to make your journey back to us. We recommend taking the Wilts and Dorset bus service ‘50’ from Sandbanks Ferry which runs every hour from Monday - Saturday and every two hours on a Sunday back to Bournemouth, Hop off at Bournemouth Gervis Place, where you can stop for a little bite to eat or drink, and then catch the local bus route 1A, 1B or 1C back to Christchurch (the 1A is usually the quicker the service with less stops).
Be sure to let us know when you’re on your way back, and we can get a comfortable table ready for you in the restaurant for a well-earned dinner!
