Join us for an evening with the UK’s most exciting winemaker, Dermot Sugrue.

Spend an insightful evening with our much anticipated host, Dermot Sugrue, widely regarded as England's finest winemaker. We will also be joined by Robin Hutson OBE, one of the UK's most influential hoteliers and the man behind THE PIG and Lime Wood Hotel.

Alongside our hosts, you'll enjoy a glass of Sugrue's signature wine 'The Trouble with Dreams' 2020 and canapés before a delightful four-course menu, each dish designed by Harbour Hotels Chef Patron Alex Aitken and paired with a wine from Sugrue South Downs.

The evening starts at 7pm with the sit down dinner at 7.45pm.

Sugrue South Downs was established in 2006 when Dermot, then head winemaker at Nyetimber, was approached by an order of Catholic priests to plant a small site at the foot of the South Downs in West Sussex. Seven years later, the first release of ‘The Trouble with Dreams’ from the 2009 vintage rapidly gained critical acclaim and earned Dermot's wines a cult-like following. In May 2023, Dermot and his wife Ana – also a winemaker – purchased their first vineyard and established a winery at Bee Tree.

In 1994, Robin co-founded the hugely influential hotel chain Hotel du Vin before transforming a small hotel in Hampshire into THE PIG. There are now nine hotels in the collection across southern England and more in the pipeline. Robin is also chairman of Lime Wood Hotel in the New Forest. In 2022, Robin – a keen wine lover and collector – invested in Dermot and Ana's project, enabling them to make Sugrue South Downs a full time pursuit.

Chef Alex is one of the South's most respected chefs. He started his career as a trawler man and this ‘raw’ fishing experience proved invaluable and a culinary asset during his career as a chef. Alex spent 25 years of cooking within the New Forest, including many years running his own highly-acclaimed restaurant, Le Poussin in Brockenhurst, Hampshire, which led to his Michelin Star in 1995. Now he is Chef Patron of The Jetty restaurants and celebrating 40 years in the business, producing locally sourced, sustainable food.
